Day 1 – Next Step Sock KAL #nsskal

Posted on January 25, 2013 by Danielle

Ok so after completely stressing myself out to the max over the last few days, trying to decipher sock patterns,  I have decided to use Kelley’s from Knit picks knit along tutorials on you tube as my pattern guide, after all this is supposed to be fun right?!

I think once I can get to grips with the sock anatomy, I will be able to understand written patterns better..Here’s hoping anyway lol

So I am using one of my Hand dyed sock yarns from my fantasy collection called Mermaids hair, and my new pair of 2.25mm signature art fixed circular needles, the pattern mainly consists of ribbing and stocking stitch, which I am pleased  about, not only will it show off my yarn beautifully but I can also relax and enjoy the learning process without having to learn a new stitch pattern too!

Tonight I cast on 64 Stitches and made a start on the ribbing section, hopefully next week I will have something a bit more substantial to show you!

If you fancy joining in, or just want to have a peek what others are making pop over to Crafts of the Cwtch and have a look through Mr linky!

On Intagram and twitter, you can keep up to date by using and searching #nsskal

If you’re doing Magic Loop or two circulars, make sure you try your sock on periodically. I’m making a vanilla sock that is mostly stockinette and I found out that I’m one of those people that needed to increase after the ribbing to 72 stitches in order for the sock to fit my leg. Some people don’t have to but I do. If it’s a ribbed sock, I can do it with 64 stitches. Just a thought :)

Socks were a huge learning curve for me, but now that I’ve made a few pairs, I really like them. The colorway is amazing, the socks are going to be beautiful!
